Task Force Kraken Keres Detachment

A combined arms milsim unit running weekly campaign operations. Infantry on the ground, special forces forward, and aviation overhead, working one continuous story rather than a series of unconnected missions.

You do not need experience. You do not need to buy anything. You need a microphone, a copy of Arma Reforger, and a Sunday evening.

What the unit is

Task Force Kraken is a structured Arma Reforger unit with a real chain of command, written doctrine, and a permanent record of what happens. It has been running continuously since January 2023.

One continuous campaign

Operations are not standalone missions. They run inside a campaign with a persistent enemy, a real map, and consequences that carry from one week to the next. What your element does on a Sunday changes what the Task Force faces the Sunday after.

Structure that means something

Four branches, twenty two elements, and a billet for every member. Rank is earned against written criteria, awards are recommended by the people you serve with, and both are recorded in a service record that follows you.

Taught, not gatekept

Combat medic and aviation certification are run in house, free, and open to anyone who turns up. Aviation, the most gatekept role in most units, is advertised to new members rather than reserved for veterans.

The branches

Every member belongs to one branch and one element inside it. You are not assigned at random: you pick, and you can transfer once you know what you actually enjoy.

Spartan

75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Ranger Battalion

The infantry. The largest branch and where most members start. Fire teams and squads holding ground, clearing objectives and carrying the weight of the campaign.

  • Rifleman, grenadier, automatic rifleman
  • Squad and team leadership
  • Combat medic

Hades

Hades Squadron, Assault Troop

Special forces. Small teams operating ahead of the main force on reconnaissance, direct action and specialist tasks. Entry is by standard, not by invitation.

  • Operator and team leader billets
  • Reconnaissance and direct action
  • Named teams: Tyr, Atlas, Vidar

Trojan

18th Special Operations Squadron, Icarus

Aviation. Rotary and fixed wing, moving the Task Force, supporting it from overhead and getting the casualties out. Training is provided from zero hours.

  • Rotary and fixed wing pilot
  • Flight lead and flight chief
  • Full certification pathway

Headquarters

Command, staff and supporting elements

Command, the staff sections, cavalry, artillery and combat control. Where the campaign is planned, the orders are written and the unit is run.

  • Saber, cavalry
  • Merlin, artillery
  • Spearhead, combat control
  • Staff sections, S-1 through S-8

How an operation runs

The main campaign operation is Sunday evening. You arrive knowing the mission, because the order is published before the night, not read out on the night.

Before

The order is published

A written operation order goes out ahead of the night: the situation, the mission, your element's task and the plan. It is written to be read on a phone during the week.

Load in

Brief and formation

The Task Force forms up, the commander briefs intent and the intelligence picture is given. Element leaders take their people and confirm the plan.

Execution

The operation

A live game master runs the opposition and the world reacts. Nothing is on rails. Objectives are taken, missed, or turn into something nobody planned for.

After

Debrief and record

What happened is reviewed and written down. Attendance, awards and what the campaign learned all enter the record, and the next order is built on it.

How we treat people

These are not slogans. They are the rules the unit has actually held to since it was founded, through four changes of leadership.

Real life comes first

Every commander this unit has had has said the same thing in the same words. Work, family, health and emergencies outrank any operation. Tell your element leader and that is the end of it. Nobody is punished for having a life.

Cost is never a barrier

Custom gear and unit kit have never been a condition of belonging. Where anything has cost money, a free route has been built alongside it in the same breath, without anyone having to explain their circumstances.

Discipline is for repair

Problems are handled privately and in person first, with the aim of keeping the member rather than making an example. Leaders here apologise downward when they get it wrong, and that is normal.

Recognition is routine

Awards and promotions are recommended by the people you serve with and presented monthly in formation. There is a decoration whose only criterion is having stayed a year, because staying counts.

Enlist

Recruitment is open. No experience is required and no tryout is involved. You will be assigned a navigator, taught what you need, and put in an element.
